A Distinctive Colour
Blue and white pottery has been produced for over a 1000 years. The development of blue and white ceramics is the result of cultural interchange and influence through trade and technical progress through the development of innovative glazing and decorating techniques.
Highly sought after by both past and present collectors, exceptional examples within the exhibition have been treasured for their rarity and the skill of the maker and decorator. They have also been mass produced for world markets.
Ceramic artists today build on the history and techniques to create their unique expression and interpretation of blue and white.
