Unlike conventional sightseeing tours, our tours provide more time to enjoy taking photos without the rush of moving on to the next attraction. All tours are privately booked so the pace is always influenced by you and your travel companions.
These itineraries have been created with the photographer in mind. You will travel with a local photographer guide to maximise the potential of the images you create while travelling. Our suggested tours in Southern Tasmania include (but are not limited to) Mt Wellington, Richmond, Huon Trail, Bruny Island, Mt Field National Park and Russell Falls, Hartz Mountains and Tahune Airwalk. Tours encompassing the Far South, East Coast and Freycinet/Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, West Coast and Strahan and everywhere in between can be arranged by request. Half-day, full-day and multi-day tours available.
Whether you are in Tasmania on a short break or extended stay, as a business or leisure traveller, visitor or local, hobbyist or professional photographer, our fully guided tours will provide you with a rewarding photography experience.
If you are not really into photography but prefer a more leisurely paced sightseeing tour, we will ensure your personal interests are catered for.
In contrast to photography workshops taken indoors in a classroom environment, Shutterbug Walkabouts takes you outdoors for a practical learning experience. The focus is to develop your skills and techniques to enhance your photography in a relaxed 'learn by doing' style.
Create your own learning experience with individual one-on-one tuition to focus on your personal photography interests and ambitions or ask about the predetermined workshops (we call them 'walkabouts') that concentrate on a set genre (for example night photography, or close-up photography) in a small group environment (no more than six to eight participants).
All of the experiences are suitable for beginners, refreshers and advanced photographers - no matter your level you will gain so much from putting new-found knowledge into practice.
Visit Shutterbugs website for detailed information for each of the options available and take advantage of the no obligation pre-booking consultation to help you decide on the best experience to suit you and your photography goals.
*One-on-One private tuition - half-day (four hours): $320
*One-on-One private tuition - full-day (eight hours): $499
*Small group 'walkabout' workshops start from $120 per person
Shutterbug Walkabouts know you only have limited time in port, so if you book in advance, they will meet you at the cruise terminal, take you out sightseeing and photographing some of their favourite locations and return you to the cruise terminal for timely re-embarkation as per your cruise schedule.
Tours can be customised to suit your interests and the time that you would like to spend on tour. It is suggested you take a tour of four or six hours duration - this often allows for personal time in Hobart city to wander around the historic Salamanca and Battery Point precinct before returning to your ship. Tours will depart at approximately 0830 local time or in the case of later scheduled arrival times, 30 minutes after your ship arrives.
Please complete an enquiry form on Shutterbug Walkabout's website to advise your interests and the duration of tour you wish to do. Your hosts will respond with further information to assist you in your choice.
If you are in port overnight you may also be interested in the Twilight Photography Tour or a longer full day tour as your schedule allows.
