Westerway offers easy access to Mount Field National Park’s waterfalls and alpine lakes.

Set on the banks of the picturesque Tyenna River beside Mount Field National Park, the town is a place to sit and ponder and perhaps spy a platypus - head to the rear deck of the riverside Possum Shed cafe for the best chance - before driving the few minutes to Russell Falls, the star attraction in the national park and Tasmania’s most photographed waterfall.

In town, the Westerway Raspberry Farm comes to life in summer, when a bounty of raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries and silvanberries burst into fruit. Wander the rows to pick your own, or buy a punnet from the farm-gate shop.

Where

Westerway is a 1hr drive (65km) north-west of Hobart.
