Andrew Seymour | Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

Two musicians, a violinist and a clarinetist, standing in front of an orchestra.
Instruments on fire. Over the years a hugely successful professional partnership has grown around local musicians Jabra Latham and Andrew Seymour. Perfect partnerships bring out the best in both parties, creating a symbiosis that takes on a life of its own. Jabra writes the notes and Andrew produces the sounds – and to spectacular effect. Fire Music is the latest instalment in their creative partnership, a scintillating new work for clarinet and orchestra motivated by the devastating bushfires of the recent past, but holding within it the promise of renewal. The concert commences with Haydn’s Symphony No 59, nicknamed ‘Fire’, and closes with music from de Falla’s raw and earthy ballet score El amor brujo (Love, the Magician), including the brilliant ‘Ritual Fire Dance’.
