Creative George Town: ‘Ephemeral fields for safe keeping’ by Amy Bartlett

Colorful mixed-media collage of a woman in overalls with flowers, text "LIVE LIFE.
‘Ephemeral fields for safe keeping’ by Amy Bartlett is an exhibition that captures the essence of belonging and relationships to our roots, loved ones, friends, and society. With each brush stroke or stitch, the artworks create a connection between the viewer and the artist’s own history, which serves as the patchwork of their identity. With their commitment to preserving memories, the tapestry of colours, textures and shapes honour their ancestors and tell stories of their lived experiences. Themes include nostalgia, loving relationships, loss and grief, domestic violence, and bonds to community. Using visual storytelling and flowers as a tool, they invite audiences to explore their senses to reflect upon their own notions of home. As part of the Creative George Town program, this exhibition showcases Lutruwita/Tasmania’s diverse arts scene, providing a platform for artists and enriching the community through creative expression. Opening and artist meet and greet on Saturday, 15 March at 11:30am.
