Steam Train Rides at the Tasmanian Transport Museum

The locomotive and one of the two carriages that will be used this Sunday.
A small section of the 8 tracks that operate at the same time.
Built in Launceston, a fully operational locomotive that you will find in the Roundhouse
This is one of several restored and maintained buses you will find at the Museum.
On one Sunday each month you and your family can ride behind an 120-year-old locomotive in a comfortable first-class carriage built in the 1920s in Launceston. There is much to see including our model railway, (up to 8 trains run at the push of a button including Thomas and Toby) the Tas Fire Services Museum appliances (fire engines), trams, buses and railway locomotives and rolling stock. Entry costs $12 for adults, $6 for children and $10 for concession and senior cardholders. The premises and train are accessible to people with disabilities, we accept companion cards and the toilets have baby change tables and disability access. The train rides are not long, about 800 metres return but patrons can have as many rides as they like. There is no need to book. Visit our website or Facebook page for information on the dates our trains are running.
