Beaker Street - Fern Tree Forest Ecology

In the Tasmanian green bush two people look up in wonder at something out of sight.
Enter the Tasmanian cool temperate rainforest with forest ecologist and expert guide Yoav Daniel Bar-Ness for a walk along some of Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington’s splendid tracks. Participants will learn about fern biodiversity, mushroom spotting, wood decay, and the geology of Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington. We’ll also try out some citizen science tools to record our observations of local biodiversity. We’ll meet outside the Fern Tree Tavern, easily accessible from town by a short bus or car ride. The trails are fairly easy and suitable for most fitness levels. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and warm layers. You might also want to bring water and a snack. We have a shorter family friendly tour starting at 3pm, and then the normal tour at 4:30pm, both starting from the Fern Tree Tavern.
