There are two walking tracks through cool temperate rainforest to Liffey Falls, which is part of Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage area. Liffey Falls Track from the upper car park (2 km return) passes beneath towering eucalypts and massive tree ferns, and there are lookout points along the way at different levels of the falls. There is some uphill walking on your return to the car park. Due to the narrow gravel road into the car park, the Upper Falls track is not accessible to long wheelbase vehicles such as caravans and motorhomes. Please take the alternate route via Liffey to the lower car park and start your walk there. The track from the lower car park and campground follows the Liffey River up through temperate rainforest to the main falls and back again (6km return). This walk is longer but has a gentler incline than the upper track. Both walks provide beautiful examples of Tasmania's temperate rainforest and ancient river systems. Time: 45 min return from the upper car park, 3 hours return from the lower car park. Grade 2: Suitable for most ages. The track has a hardened or compacted surface with uphill sections and sections of occasional steps.

Liffey Falls Walk is one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks. The 60 Great Short Walks offer the best of Tasmania's day walking opportunities. 45 minute return, 2 kilometres, from the top car park. Grade 2. These beautiful multi-level falls are nestled in deep, mossy forest beneath the spectacular Great Western Tiers. ​Water from the plateau flows into the Liffey River. As it rushes downslope it erodes away the softer mudstone, exposing sandstone steps over which the abundant waters tumble. There are two walking tracks to the falls. The walk from the top car park, which has picnic facilities, offers a shorter, well-made walking track. The track from the lower car park, where there are minimal facilities, is longer and not as well formed. Both tracks lead you through some wonderful tracts of rainforest.​ The walk will take you past four main cascades, starting upstream with Alexandra Falls, then Hopetoun Falls, Albert Falls and Victoria Falls (the latter commonly known simply as "Liffey Falls"). Viewing platforms along the track provide great opportunities for photography. Gifted by Bob Brown to Bush Heritage Australia in 1991, this reserve protects 105ha of myrtle beech rainforest, as well as dry and wet eucalypt forest. Among the native Australian species that can be found here are the spotted-tail quoll and the white goshawk. Starting from the Lower Liffey Campground, the walk takes you through a variety of vegetation, from lush myrtle and sassafras rainforest to forests of straight and tall white gums. There are two creek crossings on this walk that may be impassable after heavy rain. Time: 1-1.5 hour circuit Grade 2: Suitable for most ages. The track has a hardened or compacted surface with uphill sections and sections of occasional steps.
