Samuel Pepys Cafe
Launceston
Samuel Pepys Café is a Launceston institution, tucked away in the Paris end of George Street, serving up seriously good food with zero gluten and zero attitude.
Walking in feels a bit like visiting your favourite (slightly quirky) relatives — the ones with great taste in tunes, vintage furniture and a talent for making you feel at home. Mismatched crockery, warm banter and a "just right" level of chaos set the tone.
The cafe stretches across two levels. Upstairs hums with energy on busy days and offers pockets of calm when things slow down. There's a light-filled pergola room, a cosy little bar (that might make you want to linger), and outdoor tables nestled under leafy trees.
The entire menu is 100% gluten-free, but you'd never guess — everything's packed with flavour and made for sharing (or not). There are vegan, dairy-free and keto-friendly options that actually taste good, so no one's left out.
Samuel Pepys Café has held its place among Launceston's top eateries for over a decade. It's a little eclectic, a lot welcoming, and the kind of place people come back to — sometimes twice in one day.
