Platypus Cabin - Mt Rumney Escapes

Fully equipped kitchen and dining area with views of the surrounding bushland
Open-plan living area with lounge, dining table and views through the windows
Platypus House is a comfortable, fully self-contained two-bedroom retreat set among 150 acres of peaceful Tasmanian bushland at Mt Rumney. Located approximately 14 km from Hobart CBD and 13 km from Hobart Airport, it offers a relaxing escape surrounded by nature while remaining within easy reach of Hobart and popular attractions. The house sleeps up to six guests and features one queen bed and four single beds, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and dining areas, bathroom and laundry facilities, heating, free Wi-Fi and a private outdoor area. Ample parking is available for cars, vans, caravans and trailers. Platypus House is pet friendly, with a fully fenced yard providing a secure outdoor space for pets. Cats are not permitted. Guests can enjoy peaceful bushland surroundings, walking trails, farm animals and the opportunity to see native wildlife including wallabies, echidnas, blue-tongue lizards and native birds. The lack of street lighting also makes the property ideal for stargazing and, on clear nights, viewing the Aurora Australis. Platypus House provides an authentic off-grid experience using solar power, gas, tank water and generators. Guests are encouraged to be mindful of water and energy use during their stay. A car is recommended due to limited public transport.
