Small Wonder Wines
Small Wonder is a vineyard, winery, cellar door and restaurant on the Western Ridge of the Tamar Valley, 41 degrees south and 50 metres above sea level. Their 25-hectare Tamar Valley vineyard is certified organic by ACO. Its original 20 hectares of vines were planted in 1998 and are shaped by the Tamar River and cool Bass Strait winds. A second vineyard in the Coal River Valley sits in the rain shadow of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Drier and more continental, it has a character all its own and is in conversion to organic certification. Two Tasmanian sites. One purpose: fresh, precise wines that are true to where they're from. Their new Cellar Door & Restaurant is now open. Their kitchen is led by head chef Konstantin Putkin, who cooks to the season and lets the produce set the menu. Book a guided tasting, tour of the winery, or dine with them for lunch.
