Tunnel Bay Creek, Cape Raoul

Cape Raoul is one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. The 60 Great Short Walks offer the best of Tasmania's day walking opportunities. 5 hours return, 14km. Grade 4. What starts as a pleasant bushwalk soon turns into a stunning, often breathtaking journey. The newly refurbished track climbs through open forest to a cliff edge that may take some walkers by surprise. From there on the 14km return walk, through heath and light forest, it’s never far from those jaw-dropping cliffs. The stunning coastal scenery continues all the way out to Cape Raoul. The dolerite cape drops dramatically into the ocean. Located at Port Arthur, McHenry Distillery is Australia's southern-most whisky distillery. As well, the Distillery specialises in award-winning premium spirits, including Gin & Vodka and Beer. The Distillery's southern location takes advantage of the cool, moist maritime environment, providing perfect conditions for whisky making. The Distillery uses its own abundant, clear spring water that flows directly into the distillery and becomes the heart of the developing spirit. You can visit and experience hand-made single malt Tasmanian whisky and other high-quality spirits like gin, sloe gin, vodka and our beer brewed on site. The McHenry Distillery has a new Cellar Door at the Distillery and is open every day from 12 noon - 4 pm. If you can't make it to Port Arthur, they have a weekly stall at Salamanca Market and a shop open 4 days a week at the new Brooke Street Pier on Hobart's waterfront or in the Salamanca Arts Centre on Salamanca Parade (M-Sat 10am till 4pm) Tours and tastings daily. McHenry Distillery has recently added two new modern eco-cottages, allowing visitors to have a longer, more leisurely visit to the Distillery.

Remarkable Cave is a walk in the Tasman National Park. 15 minutes return. Grade 3. Enjoy the vista from Maignon Bay Lookout of the rugged southern coastline before descending the steps to the spectacular Remarkable Cave. From the car park it's a short, accessible walk to the large viewing platform where you will find exceptional views of Penguin Rocks and the bay. Wild waves pound away at the coastal rock below to create this dramatic coastline. From the central carpark, descend the 115 steps to view the aptly named Remarkable Cave. You'll be surrounded by steep, ancient sandstone cliffs​ and view the cave from the custom-designed platform at the base. The tunnel-shaped cave was formed through years of torment from crashing waves, eventually causing a wall of the sandstone cave to collapse and create the tunnel that stands today. Some of the collapsed rock from the cave can still be seen at the base of the cliffs. At certain times of year, the waves rush through the tunnel creating a thrilling spectacle for those lucky enough to witness it. Be prepared to get a little wet!
