Paper on Skin™ celebrates the ingenuity and wonder of wearable paper art. Designers from around the world embrace the challenge of creating catwalk-ready garments made from at least 80% paper. The festival includes a theatrical gala, showcase, workshops, exhibitions and film. The Paper on Skin™ gala and award evening is one of Australia's premier wearable art events, featuring stunning visuals and an original soundtrack by 'Alluvium.' A second show - 'Up-Close Showcase at Basalt' - has been announced for 2026 and will take place the day after the awards gala at the Basalt Restaurant located at The Cove Tasmania. The event will commence with a special Welcome to Country, dance performance and a shared cultural experience. The welcome will be led by local palawa artist and dancer, Karen Smart and the Treenoner Dance Mob. A 5-week exhibition will follow at the Devonport Regional Gallery. The international workshop series brings tutor Erica Spitzer Rasmussen to Tasmania to conduct two specialty workshops. Paper on Skin major partner - Devonport City Council Paper on Skin partners - North West Support Services and The Cove Tasmania This project has been assisted by the Australian Government, through the Festivals Australia program. Paper on Skin is supported by the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania and the Artsbridge program.
