Carpark
This large-scale textile treasure has been created in four panels, each measuring three-and-a-half metres by four metres. Crafted by more than 300 local artists, it took 10,000 hours and 200 metres of hand-dyed silk to complete. The artists have employed a number of techniques including embroidery, cross-stitch, weaving, patchwork and quilting to create Yarns.
Yarns Artwork in Silk tells the story of the local area - exploring its history, landscape and culture. The display includes an audiovisual presentation which expands on the work and is housed at the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre in Deloraine.
Yarns were awarded a 2020 Travellers Choice Award based on consistently good reviews through TripAdvisor.

The Off Season
Sew away your cares in Deloraine
Travel to Deloraine this winter for a uniquely Tasmanian creative pursuit. Each 2-hour session commences with a Yarns Silk Artwork viewing and finishes with an embroidery class, guided by instructor Niecy Brown. Simply choose a luxurious silk embroidery kit focussed on a Tasmanian Devil or Tiger and sew away your cares. Free tea/coffee included.

Classes will run on Sunday May 12, June 16, July 14 and August 11, from 1pm to 3pm with the option of adding more if there is demand. We will offer classes to a maximum of 10 per class. We will still run with lower numbers.
