M’ap Boulé | By Nancy Denis

A mid shot portrait of Haitian performer and musician Nancy Denis. She wears a dress of yellow tule
An intoxicating fusion of ritual, rhythm and revolution. Nancy Denis sets the stage ablaze in M'ap Boulé – Haitian Creole for "I'm on fire". Told through re-enactments, original music and poetry, Denis guides the audience through stories of the Haitian revolution, growing up as a child of migrants and opens space to share in the power of self-acceptance. Supported by musicians Victoria Falconer, Kween G and Mick Stuart, M'ap Boulé is a celebration of culture, connection, resistance and spirit. Denis' gravitational stage presence and powerful songs – written with the late, great Carl St. Jacques – reveal the deep emotion tied to her inspiring and impassioned story of belonging.
