The Mirror | Gravity & Other Myths

Two female acrobats hold a striking pose, one is in a handstand and the other is sitting on her
Log off. Leap in. Contemporary circus soaring across the digital divide. When we stare into our screens, what stares back? Is it a reflection, or something else? The Mirror uses contemporary circus, dance and acrobatics to examine the digital personas we present online and consume as entertainment. When it feels like our attention is being pulled in too many directions at once, the body is one of the last places in which we can find our authentic selves. With extraordinary acrobatic skill, Gravity & Other Myths (A Simple Space) bridge the physical and digital worlds with contemporary feats of tumbling, aerial skill, balance and remarkable strength. Accompanied by the electronic compositions and pop mash-ups of composer Ekrem Eli Phoenix, director Darcy Grant and the artists of Gravity & Other Myths set out on a playful, expressive search for the "true" self.
