The Waterloo Swansea

Welcome to Freycinet Waters Bed and Breakfast in Swansea, on the East Coast of Tasmania. Swansea is a great place to base yourself to explore the region. Freycinet National Park is just a 40-minute drive, with five wineries along the away. Bicheno and Maria Island are under a 40-minute drive. Launceston, Hobart and St. Helens are each less than a two-hour drive away. Offering three accommodation room styles; Water view, Court Yard and Apartment. The Water view rooms have queen-size beds, private verandahs, water views, ensuites (with walk-in showers) and reverse cycle air conditioning. The Court Yard room is on the ground floor at the rear of the house, with a king bed, walk-in shower, reverse cycle air conditioning and private courtyard. Serving traditional seaside-style bed and breakfast comes complete with full 'English breakfast' (including haggis and black pudding for the more adventurous) and complimentary port. The Apartment is on the first floor, with a separate bedroom (king-size bed), kitchen/lounge, bathroom (with walk-in shower), washing machine, reverse cycle air conditioning and large deck with water views. The Apartment includes full 'English breakfast' provisions and a complimentary port. Our central location makes it an easy walk to all amenities or take the delightful walking track around Waterloo Point.

Schouten House is a heritage listed home, rich in history and a well-known landmark on Tasmania's East Coast. Built in 1844 as an inn, it is one of the first substantial buildings to appear in Swansea when the township was being established around a military base on Waterloo Point. Now a comfortable bed and breakfast offering traditional accommodation, and a warm welcome, it is an excellent place to call home while you explore the coast and Freycinet Peninsula, or just as a relaxing getaway. Hearty cooked breakfasts, including options such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, or our popular pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, are included for all guests. Situated less than two hours' drive from either Hobart or Launceston or an easy three hour drive from Devonport, Swansea is known for its laid-back ambience, its quaint seaside village feel and its hospitality. The beauty of the Freycinet National Park and the rest of the East Coast make for wonderful day trips from your beachfront base. The Swansea Holiday Park is situated near the beach and faces towards Schouten Island with breathtaking views across Great Oyster Bay to Freycinet Peninsula and the famous Hazards. It is adjacent to the Swansea Golf Course and only a few minutes' stroll into the town centre.
