Not just gold in the streams and rock but also the golden timber of Huon Pine, King Billy, Sassafras and all the Tasmanian special timbers species growing in the most ancient forests. See the places and hear the stories with a passionate knowledgable local as your guide. Try gold and gemstone panning/fossicking and mine ore in the Jukes Pty underground mine. Be treated to a miners crib break at #1 stope.

Enjoy the space at the Paragon Theatre with some other local points of interest before one of RoamWild Tasmania's guides take you to visit the 1914 commissioned hydropower station and still standing abandoned village. Tour the village and enjoy an interpretive visit to the village hall. Take in the video presentation of the wonderful lifestyle people enjoyed here while your guide prepares a morning or afternoon refreshment. Enter the still authentically working power station and touch the wooden pipelines that still deliver water to the turbines. Call into the mine site to view the receiving station (The Sub), the original railway sheds and workshops of the Mt Lyell ABT railway with other points of interest on the return journey. Note: The Lake Margaret hydropower scheme is in full operation, is a working industrial site and is one of Hydro Tasmania's generating assets.

This spectacular 4x4 experience leaves Queenstown's Paragon Theatre and climbs the Western range high above the wilderness landscape. Incredible views and photographic opportunities that must be experienced to believe. Marvel at massive pink conglomerate rocks and enjoy awesome vistas to Cradle Mountain, Frenchmans Cap and into the Wild Rivers World Heritage Wilderness. Uninterrupted view to the west to see the sun sink into the Southern Ocean. 1.5 hours duration.

Take an intrepid 4x4 journey deep into the Franklin/Gordon World Heritage area. Unlocking the gate to real wilderness we take you on an exclusive trip far beyond the normal range of public access. See remnants of the NO DAMS era blockade that saved this wonderland from development. Hear the stories and enjoy a picnic snack where the would-be dam builders were stopped. Extend the adventure and we can really get serious and 4x4 over Mt McCall to the Franklin River and the proposed number 2 Dam site. And just maybe see a passing rafting expedition.
