Go behind the scenes of Australia's oldest working theatre on this guided walking tour. As you explore the heritage Georgian building, you'll hear fascinating stories and colourful secrets from the theatre's beginnings. You'll feel transported to another time as you wander the lush interior of the main Theatre Royal, before taking your place on stage where so many artists and performers have stood before. Get your cameras ready for a once-in-a-lifetime shot! The Theatre Royal is now co-located in The Hedberg, an award-winning performing arts precinct shared with the University of Tasmania. A vibrant centre for culture, ideas and connection, you'll have the opportunity to tour the contemporary spaces built especially for modern audiences, performers and students. This tour is run by volunteers from Friends of the Theatre Royal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:00 am (subject to minimum tour bookings). The tour runs for one hour and 15 minutes. For further information please visit our website. As the Theatre Royal is a working theatre, please note that due to rehearsals and performances, tours operate subject to change without notice.
