The Tasmanian Arboretum is a 66-hectare botanical tree park and nature reserve in Tasmania's North West. A great place to enjoy the trees of the temperate world, wildlife, including platypus (we are the best place in Australia to view them in the wild), and native birds, with over 80 species recorded. Come for a few hours or the whole day to explore and relax. Only 12 kilometres from Devonport and a short drive to Sheffield, the town of murals. The Arboretum is situated in a peaceful and beautiful valley, offering picnic shelters, two of which feature coin-operated electric barbecues, as well as a platypus observatory and bird hide on the shores of Founders' Lake. Cultural and natural heritage combine in the Limestone Heritage Walk, a self-guided walk linking the geology with a century of human activity contributing to colonial and national development. Guided walks are available for a reasonable cost and can be booked online. Bookings are essential. They are open every day of the year - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm during daylight saving and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm the rest of the year.

Prickly Mo is a rustic, quirky cellar door, located at Eugenana, just a short 10 minute drive from Devonport. The cellar door is in a converted barn and shearing shed ,built circa 1890, and has wonderful views looking over the vines and the rolling hills beyond. Prickly Mo has a range of outstanding cool climate wines, with the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and their sparkling being standouts. The food offering is simple, but generous - their cheese platters are becoming famous. A feature of the venue is live music most weekends, either on a Sunday afternoon or a Friday night, when they stay open longer and invite a food truck to feed the crowd. Just two minutes down the road is the Tasmanian Arboretum, a must-visit if you like beautiful trees in a park setting, and if you want to see platypus. This cellar door is right in the heart of the Tasmanian Tasting Trail, and only a 70-minute drive to Cradle Mountain. Prickly Mo welcomes visitors with disabled access needs.

Don Market, is one of the oldest markets on the northwest coast of Tasmania and has been operating for over 48 years. A dynamic, ever evolving market boasts both indoor and outdoor stalls(weather permitting). A great range of stalls - from fresh fruit and vegetables, to plant stalls, regular craft and makers products, new handbags, bric-a-brac and so much more and a sit-down or takeaway cafe in the back of the hall. We have regular weekly stallholders and also transient stalls which come alternate weeks or even just drop in once or just now and then. This adds to the interest and the market is usually not the same two weeks in a row. The hall itself shares some historical values maintaining its old fashioned façade and noticeboards of years gone by, and from the Don Memorial Hall where the market is held, you can look across the road to the Don River and the popular Don Railway.
