Cooinda On The Beach

The East Coast Whale Trail is a series of coastal stops you can visit with information signs about the whales and where you have a good chance of seeing them. There are 14 trail sites scattered all along the coast from The Gardens in the larapuna/Bay of Fires area near St Helens in the north to Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula. At each East Coast Whale Trail site, you will find a sign with information and stories about them and big sea views to search for signs of whales. There are binoculars installed at two of the Trail sites to help you get a closer view Whales can throw their fins and flukes, or even their bodies, high out of the water, making great explosions of foam on the sea surface that can be seen from far away. Sometimes they come within a few hundred metres of shore.

Walks to the Bicheno Blowhole, Whalers Lookout, Waubs Beach and Redbill Beach are all only short strolls from this lovely little café. Have breakfast before exploring the area more visiting Freycinet and Douglas Apsley National Parks. Wineglass Bay and Cape Tourville walks are only just over half an hour away. After a night viewing the penguins in Bicheno this makes a perfect place to come for brunch. Only an hours drive away is the town of St Helens which is the gateway to Binalong Bay, Bay of Fires, Pyengana Dairy and St Columba Falls.

Our premises was built in 1891 for use by the Commercial Bank of Australia, and today gives us the perfect mix of stunning period architecture and design, both inside and out, with more modern furnishings and street art to create a seamless blend of old and new, whilst being colourful and comfy!
