Old Kempton Distillery is located in an 1840s mansion called Dysart House, in the picturesque colonial town of Kempton. A comfortable 40-minute drive from Hobart and 2hrs from Launceston. Our Distillery offers a range of tasting flights including Whisky, Gin and Liqueurs. We have a range of tour options and an all-day Cafe. Our Cellar Door is full of locally made produce, including Olde Spikey Bridge Peanut Butter, Tassie Settlers Whisky Sauces, Van Diemen Providore products and Port Arthur Lavender Farm products. A fresh, home-cooked menu is available, including our popular Devonshire Tea made fresh daily, house-made whisky beef pies and cider pulled pork pies. We also have cocktails, espresso coffee, hot chocolate and milkshakes. The distillery is only a short 1-min drive off the Midlands Highway with plenty of parking for vehicles of all sizes, including buses and camper vans. We have a Distiller Experience to teach you all things Distilling and you can even purchase and mature your own 20L barrel of whisky!

Dysart House, Kempton, has been home to Old Kempton Distillery since November 2015. On-site we make a variety of spirits including; single malt whisky, gin, liqueurs and special releases. All are made using 100% Tasmanian ingredients. After choosing either an Old Kempton beanie or scarf to warm you up, your fully guided tour starts with a short history of Dysart House and outline of the distillation process. You will then get the opportunity to go behind the scenes, allowing you a visit to our distillery and bond store. Our bond store is full of maturing Whisky and barrels of all different shapes and sizes. Ghost stories are all a part of the history of the house so keep your eyes peeled. Each tour is unique and an amazing opportunity to see how a distillery runs on a day-to-day basis. Following your tour, you can take a seat in our stunning Cask Lounge, located in the grand coaching inn that is the Old Kempton cellar door. Your tour will finish with a guided tasting of a variety of four Old Kempton Distillery products. Lunch is available daily and highly recommended. Lunch options include; Tasmanian produce antipasto platters, Devonshire tea and daily specials. Finish your afternoon with a browse in our Cellar Door full of Old Kempton Distillery products, spirits and souvenirs of your visit.
