Marrawah Beach House

The Marrawah Inn's history dates back to 1906 where it was first granted permission by the Circular Head Council to operate as a hotel, boarding house and general store. Now, under new management since 2021, the Inn has earned its reputation for its Black Bull Bistro serving delicious meals from local produce eg Cape Grim Steaks, Robbins Island Wagyu, Tarkine Fresh Oysters & Scallops and Flake from Hursey Seafoods. The bar is fully stocked with local beers/wine/gin & Limoncello. We recently renovated an area at the rear of the Inn providing overnight caravan/RV stay. This area is equipped with coin operated hot water showers and two toilets are available. Visitors to the northwestern most point of Tasmania will find roaring waves for surfing, beautiful coastline for walks and the majestic Tarkine Drive to enjoy at your leisure.

Arthur River is surrounded by dramatic coastal scenery and wet forests which is a great base for exploring the Tarkine wilderness area in Tasmania's North West. The town borders the Arthur Pieman Conservation Area where there are facilities for camping, picnics, and barbecues. The tiny West Coast settlement of Arthur River is also the northern access point to the Western Explorer, an unsealed road that takes you to Corinna on the Pieman River, just over 100 km south. Arthur River is the gateway for four-wheel drive explorations and coastal walks. Be prepared for all types of weather when visiting this region.

The MV 'George Robinson' departs from the mouth of the Arthur River at 1000 and travels 14 kilometres to the junction of the Arthur and Frankland rivers. It takes approximately 90 minutes to reach our destination, 'Turks Landing'. On the way, white-breasted sea eagles swoop and pick up fish thrown by the crew. Morning tea is served and the skipper or tour guide gives an informative commentary about the changes in vegetation, from coastal heath, to wet sclerophyll rainforest to cool temperate rainforest. During our two-hour stop at Turk's Landing, you can enjoy a guided leisurely stroll through the rainforest or relax in the protected barbecue area among the trees and ferns. A barbecue lunch with a selection of fresh salads, bread rolls and wine is included in the cruise fare. People who have cruised on the MV 'George Robinson' often comment that the mingling of the friendly crew and fellow passengers makes their day feel 'just like a day out with family'.
