Pedder Wilderness Lodge is located in Strathgordon, on the shores of Lake Pedder in Tasmania's south-west, within the UNESCO-listed Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The lodge lies at the end of the scenic Gordon River Road, the same route that passes through Mt Field National Park before continuing deep into the south-west. Built in the 1960's to house Hydro workers during construction of the Gordon Dam, the lodge now offers a welcoming retreat in the heart of the wild. Accommodation ranges from newly built Gordon Suites with Tasmanian Oak panelling and 5-star energy rating, to Lake View rooms overlooking the Frankland Ranges, budget-friendly twins/doubles, and fully self-contained units. The lodge's restaurant and bar showcase Tasmania's finest produce alongside one of the state's most extensive Tasmanian whisky collections. Guests can also enjoy an indoor heated pool, bushwalks and bike rides, a swim at Ted's Beach, or stand in awe at the spectacular 140-metre-high Gordon Dam. Anglers are welcome to bring their boats and fish Lake Pedder for trout, open all year round.
