Stoney Rise is the brainchild of Joe and Lou Holyman. Joe spent more than a decade selling and making wine interstate and overseas before returning in 2004 to his native Tasmania with his wife. With an amazing dedication to the health of the 8-hectare vineyard and a minimal input approach to winemaking, Joe has earned his reputation as one of Tasmania's best wine producers. The stunning Stoney Rise Cellar Door – designed by local architect studio Cumulus –has just opened. Beautifully positioned overlooking kanamaluka (River Tamar), the Stoney Rise Cellar Door not only offers estate-grown and made wines but also an extensive list of Australian and imported wines. Small plates of delicious snacks are available including a serious cheese selection. Bookings are highly recommended. Follow the gorgeous scenic drive (Route C728) along the river bank.

The Tamar Visitor Centre is located in the Tamar Valley town of Exeter in northern Tasmania. As a member of the accredited Tasmanian Visitor Information Network located around the state, the Tamar Visitor Centre is open from 9.00am - 4pm seven days a week and has skilled, knowledgeable staff and volunteers who can provide expert local and statewide travel information. Our staff can also organise your bookings and reservations and give advice on what to see and do and where to eat around the Island. The Tamar Valley region highlights include the Tamar Valley Wine Route, that guides you to cellar doors and vineyard restaurants; Narawntapu National Park, with its beach walks and wildlife; Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre at nearby Beaconsfield; Seahorse World and Platypus House at Beauty Point and many more attractions. The Tamar Visitor Centre also has a large range of souvenirs and gifts to suit all tastes and budgets.

Not just for meditators, this is a place where anyone can enjoy the views, ask for advice or join in a good conversation. The centre is beside a creek and surrounded by hobby farms in the quiet beauty of North East Tasmania. The building was once an apple shed and the original beams and weatherboards can still be seen. The decor includes apple memorabilia and a three metre high apple mandala. There are low-cost meditation meetings three times a week and newcomers are very welcome to attend. For a fee you may also be able to arrange to use the building for your own rest or meditation, and/or arrange a private session for meditation tuition or counselling.
