Winter is our time to return to studio. We light the fires, we set up the studio still life settings and bring in the models. It is the artist's time to study, to explore new concepts and to learn from our masters before us. Join renowned Australian pastel artist Judy Drew for 3 days at Artable's new venue Enclave in Winnaleah, Tasmania. We are taking our working from life to the next level. We have personalised lighting boxes for you to curate your still life study followed by a staged model. Winter means hearty stews and home baked cakes and breads. Your room is heated and set with gorgeous woolen blankets from Tasmania's Waverley Mills and winter blooms feature bedside. Judy will be teaching in pastel and charcoal from life over 3 days in our studio with the first day dedicated to still life and days 2 and 3 dedicated to working from the dressed model (model fees included). Calling all nature lovers to learn how to paint highly realistic natural history watercolour with internationally renowned Australian artist Heidi Willis. Deep in the hills of remote North East Tasmania lies a tiny farming community with a 100 year old hotel that is now Artable's Australian retreat base - Enclave. Nature is well and truly begging to be captured in paint here and you will be combining field trips in nature for inspiration with studio work. Unique lichens and moss grow next to crystal clear streams amidst giant eucalypts and tiny wildflowers known only to this region. Giant eagles soar in the skies whilst little finches dart around the forest floor. This part of Tasmania will speak to every artist on every level. The Enclave accommodations have been lovingly restored and curated by award winning Artable founder Gillian who has brought together a decade of retreat experience to offer you a non-sharing room at no extra charge, a huge light filled art studio, a comfortable group lounge complete with Chesterfields and fireplace and daily excursions to visit carefully selected locations to capture the very best natural history paintings. Paired with one of Australia's most renowned watercolour and natural history artists Heidi Willis, this retreat is not to be missed - join us for a week long experience like no other.

Floating Sauna Lake Derby was Australia's first floating wood-fired sauna. Located in Tasmania's world-class mountain biking town of Derby, the sauna allows visitors to re-connect with nature through the enjoyment of a traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna and cold plunge directly off the pontoon into the freshwater of Bresies Hole (otherwise known as Lake Derby). Australians are quickly discovering what Scandanavians have known for literally hundreds of years. Mountain bikers love the idea of recovering more quickly from a day's ride and being able to ride again tomorrow. It does help that the sauna has been architecturally designed and sits on one of the most naturally beautiful lakes in the area. The sauna seats up to ten people and is open to the public and bookings for private sessions.
