This year’s Devonport Jazz will be headlined by the great multi-instrumentalist James Morrison.
The program is brimming with outstanding acts from Tasmania and the mainland, which will please both jazz lovers and the general public.
A new and exciting element of the festival will be a gala evening with the Moonlight Aviators and Matthew Ives & his Big Band. Fresh from Hobart’s Spiegeltent, the Squeezebox Cabaret, combined with a sumptuous meal at the paranaple convention centre, will be a ‘must-do’ for the festival.
Other highlights include the sensational traditional band The Syncopators, the RAN Jazz Group from Melbourne, trumpet master Gianni Marinucci, an ABC Radio live broadcast featuring a host of stars, a schools’ tour, Pure Jazz Sessions and a jazzy INXS tribute.
This is the 18th instalment of the annual festival and there are plenty of opportunities to banish the winter blues with concerts, dinners, dances, breakfasts, brunches and lunches in venues across the City and beyond.
A Festival Pass is available, offering huge discounts and special offers, so why not make a weekend of it. There is more than meets the eye in Devonport, and Devonport Jazz is a great excuse to visit.
