The George Town Visitor Information Centre is your first point of call when visiting this lovely community. The team will be able to assist you with enquiries in relation to food, attractions, tours, accommodation and general information about the area. Positioned on the banks of the idyllic Tamar River and meandering inland, the George Town region has many stories to tell. The diversity of experiences is impressive, from majestic coastal beaches and world class coral reefs to green rolling hills flanked by quaint townships and nostalgic country inns. Theres so much to do from exploring the town's rich history at the Bass & Flinders Maritime Museum, the Watch House and the nearby Low Head Pilot Station to mountain bike riding across two trail networks that offer 70kms of trails at Mount George and Tippogoree Hills. For animal lovers the nearby Low Head Penguin Tours provides an enchanting opportunity to see the world's smallest penguins waddle in from the sea each night.
