Take in the views over D'Entrecasteaux Channel while indulging in a raft of gourmet experiences around Woodbridge.

From Hobart, take a cruise on the River Derwent and the Channel – as the locals call it – for lunch at the Peppermint Bay Hotel, serving local seafood and produce in view of Bruny Island.

Sample sheep’s cheeses at Ewenique Tasting House at Grandvewe, a farm and cheesery that is also home to Hartshorn Distillery, producing spirits based on sheep’s whey, usually a waste product in cheesemaking.

Just down the road, in the beautifully named hamlet of Flowerpot, the cellar door at Mewstone Wines has a grandstand view across the vines, the Channel and Bruny.

Walk off any excesses at Art Farm Birchs Bay, where a 2km trail winds through the bush past a series of sculptures.

For those travelling to Bruny Island, the ferry departs from Kettering, just a few minutes’ drive north.
