Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto | Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

A man in a blue shirt plays a cello on a stage.
The TSO's Principal Cello player Jonathan Békés is one of Australia's finest cellists. Here he stars stars in French composer Camille Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No 1, a work of lyrical beauty and virtuosic brilliance. Acclaimed conductor Nodoka Okisawa makes her TSO debut in this French-themed concert with a Japanese twist. The concert opens with Prokofiev's witty and elegant Symphony No 1, the 'Classical' and ends with Poulenc's quirky and fun Sinfonietta. Also on the program is Japanese composer Takashi Yoshimatsu's meditative short work called And Birds are Still.
