King Island - Anchorage Festival
Anchoring the season is the King Island Anchorage Festival, a laid-back celebration of local culture, creativity, and connection. It's a weekend of shared stories, and community warmth, where the island's rugged spirit truly shines. At its heart is Sea-ing Light: an immersive audio-visual experience projected onto the iconic Currie Lighthouse and historic Lens Room. The artwork created by acclaimed artist Alex Moss, will transform these emblematic structures into glowing canvases and a "playable instrument" that visitors can actively participate with. Also not to be missed is Weathering: a heartfelt exhibition by local artists reflecting on the recent drought, capturing the resilience, humour, and humanity of the King Island community. The Anchorage Festival celebrates the quiet magic of winter on Tasmania's wild west isle, inviting all to illuminate their winter and ignite their inner light. This windswept island doesn't do winter like the rest of Australia. Here, the pace slows, the stories deepen, and the sense of place glows. From the crackle of bonfires to a lighthouse lit with light and meaning, King Island comes alive in its own raw, elemental way.
