Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

Ocean racing yachts cross the starting line in Sydney Harbour on their way to Tasmania
The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race sails over 628 nautical miles through sometimes grueling ocean conditions. Over the past 80 years, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has become an icon of Australia's summer sport. Capturing the hearts of Australians and transforming into an international yachting classic, the race ranks in public interest with such national events as the Melbourne Cup, the Australian Open tennis and the Boxing Day cricket test. No regular annual yachting event in the world attracts such huge media coverage than the start on Sydney Harbour. Over a hundred yachts tackle the maritime challenge year after year, from 100-foot maxi yachts to professionally crewed international TP52s to corinthian 30-foot racers. From humble beginnings to global phenomenon, the CYCA and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race remain synonymous with the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and the pursuit of excellence on the high seas.
