Stanley Bicentenary

Highfield Historic Home overlooks the village of Stanley
Stanley will commemorate its 200‑year bicentenary with a four‑day program of community events held throughout the town. The celebration begins with a special screening of The Light Between Oceans at the Stanley Town Hall, setting the tone for a weekend honouring the region's history and coastal heritage. Saturday features a full day of activities at the Stanley Recreation Ground, highlighted by a community parade showcasing themes and stories from the past two centuries. The festivities continue into the evening with a lively Bush Dance at the Town Hall, bringing locals and visitors together in true Stanley spirit. On Sunday, the Highfield Historic Site will open its doors for a free community day, inviting everyone to explore one of the region's most significant heritage landmarks. That afternoon, the commemorative garden at the church will be officially opened, providing a reflective space to honour the people and stories that shaped Stanley. The long weekend concludes on Monday morning with a guided historical walk, offering a deeper look into the town's early settlement and the places that continue to define its character.
