Traditional Finnish Sauna Healing - Beaker Street Festival 2026

An image of a traditional Finnish sauna
Nanna Bayer "Sauna Queen of Tasmania" has recently returned from her homeland of Finland, newly qualified as a Traditional Finnish Sauna Healer. In this traditional healing session, Nanna will use an abundance of herbs and plants and their scent, the heat from the löyly (the steam from hot rocks), and traditional sounds, words, and phrases to help generate and support a profoundly relaxing and healing environment. This is a unique experience in Australia and is currently only offered by Nanna here in Lutruwita/Tasmania. During the session, participants will learn about traditional Finnish sauna culture and practices dating back 8,000 - 10,000 years, as well as the best way to get the health benefits from sauna, a topic about which Nanna is deeply passionate. This is a group session for a maximum of seven people, held at the stunning Pyhä Sauna, at a secret location in South Hobart, a short drive from Hobart's CBD. The sauna itself is a work of art, made entirely of natural materials including clay and straw. It features what Nanna calls "the Rolls Royce of Finnish wood burning sauna heaters", the first of its kind in Australia. Taking place in South Hobart, the exact location will be revealed to ticket holders in the weeks leading up to the event. This event is part of Beaker Street Festival 2026
