Prince of Wales Hotel

Prince of Wales
The Prince of Wales Hotel is a historic pub, restaurant, and boutique accommodation venue located in the heart of Battery Point, one of Hobart's oldest and most charming neighbourhoods. Established in 1843 "The Prince" has long been a favourite gathering place for locals, waterfront workers, and travellers alike. Blending classic Tasmanian pub culture with modern hospitality, the hotel offers a welcoming public bar, quality dining, live entertainment, and newly renovated accommodation. Situated on Hampden Road, it is just a short walk from Salamanca Place, Hobart's waterfront, and many of the city's historic attractions. The Prince of Wales is deeply connected to Battery Point's rich history. The original hotel building became a symbol of the community's fight to preserve the area's heritage during redevelopment debates in the 1960s and 70s. Today, the venue combines old-world character with a relaxed atmosphere, offering locals and visitors great food, cold drinks, comfortable stays, and genuine Tasmanian hospitality in one of Hobart's most iconic settings.
