Cape Wickham Lighthouse
Standing proudly at the northern tip of King Island, Cape Wickham Lighthouse is one of Australia's most significant maritime landmarks and the tallest lighthouse in Australia, rising 48 metres above the rugged coastline. Built in 1861 following the tragic wreck of the Cataraqui, the lighthouse continues to guide vessels through the treacherous waters of Bass Strait and remains an enduring symbol of the island's maritime history. Visitors can take in spectacular views across Victoria Cove and the Great Southern Ocean while exploring this dramatic coastal site. Facilities include a picnic shelter, disabled access toilets and a historic grave site, making Cape Wickham Lighthouse a memorable stop for travellers discovering King Island's wild northern coastline.
