Day 1: Explore the east coast

Communal sauna at Selkie Wellness
Start your day waking up at Little Beach Co, a luxurious resort tucked in the middle of the east coast strip. Breathe deep. Crisp air, quiet roads, no agenda. Just you and your winter road trip on Tasmania’s east coast.
Head south and within half an hour you’ll arrive in Bicheno. Start with breakfast at Sealife Restaurant and Cafe, where good coffee, satisfying breakfast and sea views jumpstart your morning.
From there, treat your body at Selkie Wellness right in the heart of Bicheno. Heat, plunge, pepperberry chai: this Off Season wellness offer gives you the lot, plus an Australian botanical DIY facial. In 90mins, you'll feel like a different person.

Scallop pie, Freycinet Marine Farm
Lunch is a short drive away at Freycinet Marine Farm, where oysters, mussels and rock lobster come straight from Tasmanian waters. Take the chance to try a winter seafood classic: sweet Tasmanian scallops in creamy filling beneath buttery pastry. It’s a serve of comforting satisfaction on a cool day. That's winter done right.

Waubs Harbour Distillery, Bicheno
Now that you’re fed, head back to Bicheno for a sundowner drink. Taste true Tasmanian single malt whisky metres from the ocean at Waubs Harbour Distillery, which offers small group tours and tastings Monday–Saturday, bookings essential. In the Off Season, enjoy fireside whisky tastings paired with stories of the town’s maritime past, only on Saturdays at 4:15pm, June–August.
Dinner is a short walk or drive to Bicheno town centre at Tasmanian Coastal Seafoods. Tuck into fresh seafood served with a smile, or rug up and walk your dinner to the seaside for al fresco fish and chips. Winter, as luck would have it, is also peak oyster season. Cool water = sweeter flavour.

Woodfired sauna, Little Beach Co Resort
As the day winds down, return to your accommodation at Little Beach Co. Settle into a private hot tub or the wood-fired sauna, then wrap yourself in soft blankets and wander to your roaring outdoor firepit under a starry winter sky. The firepit’s waiting.
