Captain's Rest
Captain's Rest is a restored fisherman's cottage in the Lettes Bay shack village, on Macquarie Harbour outside Strahan on Tasmania's west coast. It sits three metres from the water, measured in footsteps, and has views to the original jetty. It was built at the turn of the last century, and it has stayed the size it always was: one bedroom, one bed, sleeping two. It is not suitable for children and does not take pets. There is a wood fire, a full kitchen, a deep bath, and weather worth watching from all three. Named 'Australia's Most Special Stay' by Escape Magazine and featured in British Vogue, Condé Nast Traveller, Living Etc UK, and Milk Decoration France, Captain's Rest offers more than accommodation—it provides a true journey into the heart of wild Tasmania. Created by an internationally renowned designer, Captain's Rest serves those who seek depth over grandeur, solitude over spectacle.
