This exclusive tour is provided to explore the beautiful public and private gardens and country houses. The day will include visits to three properties in the Northern Midlands region and travel along Tasmania's historical Heritage Highway. The Northern Midlands is a significant place and much painted by famous artists Tom Roberts and David Chapman - a stunning landscape with Western Tiers backdrop. You will hear the stories of the families of the region and meet some of the owners who will take you around their garden Estates. Included in this tour is a gourmet lunch, morning or afternoon tea and entry to three (3) private gardens. This tour operates with a maximum of twelve people. The Meander Valley has a reoccurring theme of hawthorn hedges and behind these hedges lay some magnificent gardens and country houses not available to the general public. It is also becoming a significant area to the production of gourmet foods, wasabi, honey, salmon and cheeses. Chatsworth is a luxury three-bedroom country homestead (1838) with a beautiful established private garden surrounded by paddocks and animals as well as views of The Great Western Tiers and Ben Lomond. Chatsworth is situated in The Northern Midlands, 6 km south of the heritage town of Longford. Close access to the farms' river where you can go fishing or simply enjoy a picnic or a walk and pick your own vegetables and fruit from the garden as you cook up a storm in the gorgeous country kitchen. The lovely three french doors lead you from a beautiful, spacious and light kitchen/dining/sitting area directly out to the covered verandah where you can sit and take in the view with a great book or enjoy a meal while overlooking the one hectare country garden. Chatsworth has its own little chook house where you can collect eggs and guinea fowls who are a delight to watch. Enjoy one bottle of Tasmanian produced wine on the house and if you need to open another bottle there is plenty to choose from in the pantry's bar fridge (extra fees apply)! . You are guaranteed a secure place to stay and enjoy a few days, whether it’s just resting before moving on or heading down to the local rivers for a fish. Cressy is Tasmania's only 'troutified' township as the local area is a mecca for fly fishing. the site is Dog-friendly. Visitors need to be fully self-contained with their own amenities. Guests must also be over 18 years old. Tents are not permitted. Gossy's Retreat's backyard is hidden from the street and offers amazing views of the mountains. Located 34 km southwest of Launceston, Cressy is a small, attractive, and historically significant town that came into existence in the 1850s to service the surrounding wheat farms.
