Michael Roberts is a Tasmanian musician and producer who worked for many years in Sydney and toured internationally. At the grand piano he plays and sings from a huge repertoire that embraces different eras from the American Songbook through the golden years of the '60s to the '80s and '90s. You could hear classics from Lennon/McCartney, Elton John and Billy Joel. From Burt Bacharach, Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King and James Taylor to Australian classics from Paul Kelly, Crowed House and many others. Requests are welcome.

Presented by Hadley's Orient Hotel, the Hadley's Art Prize, Hobart is an acquisitive Australian landscape prize, which offers $100,000 to the winning entry. Hadley's Orient Hotel has a long history with art starting with art-loving landlords in the late 1800s. The Hadley's Art Prize contributes to the art community, celebrates excellence in contemporary landscape art, promotes cultural tourism in Tasmania, and restores art to the historic walls of Hadley's Orient Hotel through a landscape prize similar to the competition won by Howard Hadley in 1895. Judged by a panel of art specialists, the prize is open to Australian artists over the age of eighteen working in two-dimensional media. Artists at all career stages are invited to enter.

The Howard Hadley Gallery is a dynamic exhibition and event space. It features temporary exhibitions for guests to explore. Art is interwoven into the history of Hadley’s Orient Hotel, most notably landscape paintings. This gallery is named after Howard Hadley, one of the early landlords who was himself an artist and art collector. Howard and his father were passionate about art and their collection was shown throughout the hotel, including works by prominent landscape artists such as Haughton Forrest. With the introduction of Hadley's Gallery in 2016 and Hadley's Art Prize in 2017, Hadley's Orient Hotel's colourful artistic past has had a fresh coat of paint and creativity.
