The Huon Burrow is a unique underground dwelling nestled into the hillside with amazing views over the Huon River within easy walking distance of cafes and restaurants at historic Franklin in the Huon Valley. The Huon Burrow has half a metre of material on the roof composed of soil, gravel and insulation on top of a waterproof barrier, then 20 tons of concrete and one ton of reinforced steel. Franklin is located about 40 minutes drive south of Hobart and is renowned for rowing and wooden boat building and restoration. You can also enjoy sailing the river or just enjoy the birdlife.
