In the evening, the Bicheno Penguin Tours departing depart 300m from the hotel, returning in time for you to enjoy a delicious evening meal from the Beachfront Bistro. Drive just 40-minutes up or down the coast to the natural wonders of Douglas Apsley National Park or Freycinet National Park including Wineglass Bay. The Beachfront is also located opposite the start of many of the towns walking trails, which take you to Bicheno Blowhole, Redbill Beach, Waubs Bay, Whalers Lookout and the township. A short drive south to the many local East Coast vineyards with cellar doors. Bay of Fires and St Columba Falls are also just over an hour away. Bicheno is just over two-hours drive from both Launceston and Hobart.

Governors Bicheno is located on the edge of the shopping strip of Bicheno. This beautiful little café serves amazing food for breakfast, brunch or just a cuppa in the mornings. You can sit outside in the sun or inside with its stylish interior. Open for breakfast, brunches and morning teas. They have many vegetarian options available. You can get a takeaway if you want to sit by one of the stunning beaches. The service is amazing, and you will definitely enjoy the food and your visit. Walk into town on one of the many walking tracks and treat yourself before continuing on another walk. Walks to the Bicheno Blowhole, Whalers Lookout, Waubs Beach and Redbill Beach are all only short strolls from this lovely little café. Have breakfast before exploring the area more visiting Freycinet and Douglas Apsley National Parks. Wineglass Bay and Cape Tourville walks are only just over half an hour away. After a night viewing the penguins in Bicheno this makes a perfect place to come for brunch. Only an hours drive away is the town of St Helens which is the gateway to Binalong Bay, Bay of Fires, Pyengana Dairy and St Columba Falls.

Overlooking the gorgeous Waubs Bay sits the Sealife Centre Restaurant. First established in 1978 as an aquarium for local fish species such as crayfish, octopus, sharks and even an eel housed in 24 tanks and a large central tank. The early 90s brought growth for Sealife with the addition of the glass-fronted restaurant area, new kitchen and outdoor dining area. Due to licensing and regulations, the aquarium came to a close in 2009 however the restaurant continued to flourish. Moving forward to 2016 the Restaurant was purchased by Peter and Narelle who made the move to Bicheno one year later. Growing up on rural farms in the Northern Tablelands of NSW Peter and Narelle have owned & operated a butcher's shop and several restaurants over a 30-year span. There is a wealth of knowledge between them Peter being a chef and butcher and Narelle running the floor. Coming from country NSW fresh seafood was rarely available so moving to Tasmania has opened many doors to explore the fresh produce right at our doorstep. At the modern-day Sealife Centre Restaurant, we pride ourselves on using the freshest and highest standards of local Seafood, Beef, Lamb, Pork, Chicken and game meats available.
