ArtStart: Our World, Seen in a Different Way

Gallery wall with multiple artworks by northern Tasmanian primary school students
ArtStart returns to QVMAG in 2025, celebrating the creativity of northern Tasmania's youngest artists. Open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 6, each ArtStart exhibition is guided by a unique theme designed to inspire young artistic minds. We're lucky to live in this beautiful part of the world called Tasmania, surrounded by an amazing variety of landscapes and environments. This term's ArtStart exhibition showcases students' interpretations of their favourite places in nature. Using the diverse range of colours, forms, textures and shapes seen in the world around us, students are encouraged to create artworks that depict these places in new and creative ways, including drawing, painting, photography, and mixed media. The notion of an exhibition curated by young people, for young people, and displaying art created by young people, is an important of the Terry and Nan Woodward ArtStart legacy.
