Meechot Marrero

One breath: a gathering of voices in divided times A deeply human recital for voice and piano In the middle of winter, we come together around a symbolic fire. Not to solve the world's problems or explain them, but simply to share a moment of stillness and breathe. Led by Puerto Rican soprano Meechot Marrero, this intimate recital invites audiences into a space of warmth, reflection and connection. Meechot's journey, from a small Caribbean island to major European opera houses and now Australian, shapes a program grounded in migration, cultural bridges and a belief in music's power to bring people closer. For this special performance, Meechot will be supported by Tasmanian vocal ensemble JESSA, whose rich, expressive sound adds depth and texture to the evening's exploration of voice, breath and shared humanity. Through song and silence, moments of beauty and moments of questioning, this recital offers space to feel, to reflect and to remember that even in uncertain times, music can hold us together. Open to first‑time listeners and seasoned music lovers alike, One breath is an invitation to pause and reconnect.
