The Shingles Riverside Cottages provide self-contained accommodation in New Norfolk, in Tasmania's south. The cottages have a stunning absolute waterfront location on the banks of the Derwent River. The tranquil grounds feature a private jetty, extensive gardens and an outdoor summer months-only swimming pool. Choose from one of four cottages in studio or apartment style. All cottages include reverse-cycle heat pumps, wide-screen televisions with DVD players and DVDs, and barbecue facilities. Three have laundry facilities and kitchens. A Porta cot and high chair are available on request. The Birches is a two-bedroom modern spa cottage that can sleep, six guests. The bedrooms feature queen beds and up to king single bunk beds. The Derwent one-bedroom cottage can sleep up to five, with a queen and two king singles in one bedroom and another single bed in the separate sitting area. The Willows Cottage sleeps four in contemporary studio-style accommodation, with a queen and single bed with trundle. Paddy's Flat offers a studio-style room with a queen bed, compact sitting area, kitchenette and ensuite, on the lower level of a two-story building. New Norfolk is a 30-minute from Hobart.

Built by convicts in 1825, and restored in 2005, it was judged the best Tasmanian restoration and best Australian restoration 2005, 2006. The Woodbridge is a seamless blend of 200 years of this history with modern amenities and comfort. It operated as a Small Luxury Hotel 2007-19. But as guest preferences altered, it morphed to a Rooms Only concept catering to today's independent traveller with self-catering kitchenette and dining room. The Woodbridge is within easy walking distance of the acclaimed The Agrarian Kitchen, and the delightful old Bush Inn, 1815 is a stone's throw walk along the river. Located just 36 km north-west of Hobart, the New Norfolk Caravan Park is situated on the banks of the beautiful River Derwent and makes an ideal base for exploring Southern Tasmania. The park has 58 powered sites; eight are drive-through sites, and the others are suited for motorhomes and small caravans. There are also two cabins and one onsite caravans. There are also 18 unpowered site spaces in the park, all of which are grass with plenty of trees to provide shade. There is a barbeque, camp kitchen and full laundry facilities. The cabins have television, electric blankets, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The Town of New Norfolk was settled in 1808 and spreads over both sides of the Derwent River with the main shopping district a five minute walk from the Caravan Park. The town is home to many antique stores as well as the oldest continuously licensed hotel in Australia - The Bush Inn. From the New Norfolk Caravan Park, there is a popular walking track that follows the River Derwent through the wetlands and to Tynwald Park where you can see wildlife such as wild ducks and platypus. The river itself is a great fishing spot.
