Attraction

Devils Gullet

View west at sunset from the cliffs of Devils Gullet
A short alpine walk to a lookout platform that overhangs sheer cliffs and the Fisher River Valley. From the lookout, on a clear day, visitors can view Tassie's highest mountain (Mt Ossa) on the western skyline, among many others. The walk is well worth the drive to get there, providing epic views for minimal effort. The drive through the Mersey Forest is special too with forests of myrtle and tree fern bordering the road. Note: There is a 14km gravel road to this track. Track is located 1000 metres above sea level and road can be snowy in colder months (4WD only). Time: 40 minutes return. Grade 2: Suitable for most ages. The track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle hill section or sections, and occasional steps. Image: © 2020 Jade Austen. All rights Reserved.
