Vines and Caves - Exploring the Valley

Wing's Wildlife Park is Tasmania's only wildlife park with accommodation on site. Situated in Gunns Plains on the banks of the Leven River, just 23 km south of Ulverstone, in the beautiful north-west of Tasmania. Your choices for accommodation include accommodation units, caravan park and camping grounds. The accommodation units are available in queen, family and bunk rooms, and include linen and access to shared kitchen/bathroom amenities. Overnight guests pay a once-only entry fee to the Wildlife Park which will cover the duration of your stay, guests staying in queen or family rooms receive a discounted entry. You can walk through the grounds to see Australian native animals - Tasmanian devils, koala, wombats, kangaroos, reptiles, trout, as well as exotic animals including monkeys, meerkats, camels and American bison. The majority of native animals at Wing's Wildlife Park have been rescued following injury and are released into their natural habitat when rehabilitated. Those unable to be released stay in our care for the remainder of their lives. Wing's Wildlife Park also has a cafe available for lunch, snacks, drinks and ice-creams. You can browse in our gift shop and find that treasured souvenir. Gunns Plains Caves and Preston Falls are nearby.

This is a hosted stay through Hipcamp, below is the information provided by the Host regarding their offering. Rivers Edge is located on 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black freshwater crayfish here, but don't catch them or it's a $10,000 fine!  Only 20 kilometres from the nearest town, Ulverstone which has everything you require. The road is close to the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just as we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. This is a hosted stay through Hipcamp, below is the information provided by the Host regarding their offering. Pitch your tent or park your van next to one of our lovely dams. South Preston Dam Camp is home to running streams, waterfalls, platypus, free-range pigs, sheep along with stunning views. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the warmer months and lots of walking and exploring the rest of the year. Campers must be self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Camp fires are welcome pending there are no restrictions and they must be kept contained. Access can be difficult after heavy rainfall and you will need to drive through opened paddocks and unformed tracks to campsites so please use caution. Locally located 20 mins drive to Ulverstone and a 10-minute drive to Leven Canyon, Preston falls and Gunns Plains so there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. 60 minutes drive to Cradle Mountain and 90 mins drive Tullah West coast. 30 mins Penguin and Devonport.
