Learn to love winter as a Devil Sitter

Your winternship

Clock in for the only babysitting job that doesn't require Bluey on repeat – looking after Tasmanian devils at Devils@Cradle Wildlife Sanctuary. As the Devil Sitter Wintern, you'll be keeping a watchful eye on the wide-awake devil joeys who'd rather stay up all night having a yarn than hibernate through winter. Forget lullabies, we're accepting tone-deaf applicants ready to communicate exclusively via screech.

You’ll need a high noise-tolerance as these babies' big voices don't match their tiny bodies – especially Barnsey, who's been known to hit decibels heard from the snowy peak of Cradle Mountain.

After prepping milk bottles and late-night snacks, you’ll be tasked with getting the beds cosy and toasty for the carnivorous cuties’ bedtime routines – just remember who prefers a firm pillow to a soft one or you might get a nip in the ankles.

Once your duties are complete, you've got the green light to raid the marshmallow stash and toast them over the open fire.

At the end of the evening, try not to shed a tear when you bid farewell to your new furry friends. Leave safe in the knowledge that winter nights are better spent swapping stories around a fire than being streamed on a screen.
