Falls, forest and fine wine can be found around Lilydale, a picturesque town tucked in the foothills of Mount Arthur.

Wine lovers can plot a day trip to nearby cellar doors. Book a tasting with a fascinating back story at Providence Vineyard, Tasmania’s oldest winery. Tastings come with a guided walk through the vineyard at The Ridge North Lilydale. A little further afield are Clover Hill Wines, Bay of Fires Wines, Pipers Brook Vineyard, Delamere Vineyards and Sinapius Wines.

For family fun, head to Hollybank Wilderness Adventures, set within Hollybank Forest Reserve, south of Lilydale. Go zip-lining or mountain biking, tackle the ropes course through the treetops or glide across the forest floor on a Segway.

Where

Lilydale is a 25min drive (28km) north of Launceston.

Insider tip
  • Head north of town to Lilydale Falls, set in rainforest. Continue north to walk through an abandoned train tunnel, along the aptly named Tunnel Road.
