Lady Barron

The seaside township of Lady Barron on Flinders Island offers peace and quiet, scenic views and abundant wildlife.

Located on the southern shores of the Franklin Sound, Lady Barron is a great starting point for exploring Flinders Island.

There's excellent fishing from the wharf in the middle of town as well as serene walking along the protected foreshore. The walk up to the Vinegar Hill lookout rewards with big views across the Furneaux Islands to Cape Barren Island.

Just west of Lady Barron is Strzelecki National Park, with its remote sheltered beaches and challenging Strzelecki Peaks Walking Track.

Hire cars are available in Lady Barron allowing you to explore the rest of the island, including the Furneaux Museum at Emita, the Wybalenna Aboriginal historic site and wildlife parks.

Don't forget to sample the island's produce, including its famous meat and fresh seafood, at the local tavern and restaurant. Fishing and dive charters and personalised tours are available, as well as scenic flights departing from the Lady Barron airfield.

Accommodation is available in luxury eco-retreats, farm stays, B&Bs, hotels and campsites.

Regular flights to Flinders Island leave from Launceston, Tasmania or Essendon, Victoria. The island can also be reached by ferry from Bridport in Tasmania and Port Welshpool in Victoria.
